fWhen we dream of an animal or creature there is so much to be learned! But not in the way of outside observation. No! When we want to receive the depth teaching of an animal, we must move as one! If an animal comes to you in your dream, then I encourage you to clear a place in your bedroom or living room, close your eyes and breathe.
Follow your breath into stillness and silence. Then, when you are quiet and calm, take 5 movements to enter into the posture of the animal as you saw it. Do anything that feels right with these 5 movements. Once you are in the fifth movement posture, be sure to adjust yourself so that you feel like you've truly settled in to the creature's state-of-mind. From this physical position, ask yourself "How is my mind, from this physical position?" Explore moving and walking and sleeping like this creature. Do they have long slow steps or short, quick and scampering movements? When working with an animal movement totem, there is no need to judge good or bad, instead, seek to discover the medicine in the body that this posture or pattern is trying to provide. Of course, it's helpful to learn the language of dreams.

When we dream, it is our depth mind seeking to communicate wisdom from the collective field, to us. Every animal, every plant, every building built by man has a consciousness and vibration and teaching associated with it, if we are willing to take the time to contemplate it. The depth mind is using these images, seeking to reveal to us how to heal our blocks to a greater flow of spiritual wisdom and expand our spiritual wisdom directly by guiding us through the flow. We can work with dreams in all sorts of ways. I will focus on the use of dreams as opportunities for yogic posture realization and receiving esoteric teachings hidden within the images that present themselves. The revealing of images, if we choose it to be a path, can be a direct guide to our healing and transformation. There are particular ways that we can engage and explore the image, animal or scenery from the dream that guides us more deeply towards uncovering what it is we are seeking. My greatest breakthroughs have been through the use of movement, in particular, the postures and movement patterns of animal creatures that reveal themselves as well as drawing or painting the dream. Drawing, painting as a Mystical Path to Unfolding When we choose to draw or paint the image, we start to learn some of the fundamental, underlying, hidden aspects of the image. We start to see the colors it's comprised of. Primary colors or mixed? Complimentary or monochromatic? We start to see the shapes that are hidden within. Triangles or circles? Pointed corners or round edges? In this way, layer after layer of truth begins to reveal itself to us and we start to see new ways that we are facing or working with a situation. For example, we might realize that through the many pointed edges in our dream, that we are being pointed and prickly in how we are treating a person we care about. If everything is fading away and without solid definition, we might see that we are without clear boundaries or immersed in something... or perhaps the veil between spiritual and non spiritual plane is dissolving! The power of drawing a moment from a dream is absolutely astounding. 10 years of doing this work and I am always surprised by what incredible gem is hidden in the dream that I never would have found in the first place. Developing the Language Once the depth mind starts to notice that you're noticing it, it will start to work with you even more directly and efficiently. Once it starts to notice that you're paying attention to your dreams and you are working with Divine Feminine Archetypes from across the centuries... it will start to communicate to you through images of Nefertiti or Joan of Arc or Isis! This is very different communication than animal totems! The depth mind is always seeking to reveal itself and be known and interacted with. It will be delighted to find that you've found a mode of communication and will happily start working with you accordingly. I hope you have enjoyed this brief introduction to working with Animal Movement Totems and Painting Dreams as a Mystical Path to Unfoldment. ,It is important to have a balance of shared energy between the male and female. It is a gift when one can be in a sacred partnership but then can exchange and cultivate joy, peace, intellectual stimulation and honor between one's self and other beings outside their partner. In this day and age we may have many hesitations about this as we are told that men cannot be friends with women or that our open heart will always lead to feelings of sexuality and unquenched desire.
This is a sad world to be living in. The notion that all good things come back to this lowly form of sexual contact. Sexual union is happening around us at all times, in any given moment, if we have the eyes and heart to notice it. The question is, is are we centered in ourselves as to not be overtaken unconsciously by our desire to create union with what is around us? Are we driven and pulled into the marketing of beauty and splendor, unconsciously, our sex drive being exploited into stimulation or depletion. How do we transform or redirect these impulses into a space for practice; a space for self-awareness and self-reliance and self-expression? Dancers know how to do this, even if it's not happening consciously. They know how to work in a fully open, but fully controlled use of the body. Any energy that would otherwise be caught in the sexual center get's naturally distributed through the whole body through the use of proper movement expressions. We cannot be present if we are not present in our bodies and our bodies can not be honored if we do not have awareness of our sexual chakra. But awareness of our sexual chakra does not me to be in a sate of arousal. When we have a distributed flow of energy from the pelvic region, it is clear light that extends to our limbs, through our fingers, our eyes, our eye lashes and toes. It is the the experience of crystaline diamonds in our bloodstream. It is the specificity of knowing where our body is within space. When we do our movement practice, we do not focus on or cultivate the sexual arousal state, even if we are "moving in the way that is most pleasurable". Instead, we move to it or through it, until it passes or more ideally, until it's been transformed. Sexual energy is simply energy that desires to be expressed. We can express it through our yoni and lignum or we can express it through our voice, our eyes, the reach of our hands. The art of movement is the art of embodying our body and exchanging energy, cleanly, between people, be it performer to performer or performer to audience. When we are dedicated to the practice of using our body as an instrument, we bend, stretch, grab, push, pull, reach in such a way that our energy meridians are activated and flowing, effortlessly. Radiance is sure to follow. Ultimately, moving into a state of play and pure exploration of the body in space is a sure way to start to access some of the clearest, most heightened, and relaxed states of consciousness available. |
